Scouting “Captivating Croatia” tour completed

In winter our workload is very different to the summer when most of the time we are touring with our customers. Winter is the time when we receive most bookings, answer customer questions, work on the roadbooks, make any necessary changes to the website etc. and scout future tours. Writing the roadbooks is particularly time consuming, as it is important that all the information we provide in them is correct and hasn’t changed from the previous year. We spend a lot of time, for example, on the phone talking to tourist offices to check opening times of points of interest and to confirm that parking close to the cities or other points of interest are still accessible for motorhomes. Even though we know most places from previous visits, things might have changed.

After the „Motorhome and Caravan Show“ in October we travelled to Croatia to make final arrangements for our “Captivating Croatia” tour which will take place next year from Monday 14th September to Saturday 3rd October. Although it was early November the weather was lovely at 20 degrees Celsius and we were able to check the campsites and many of the POI’s that can be visited on the tour. The picture shown in the Newsletter was taken in Omiš, where, as one of the highlights of the tour we will have a boat trip through the Cetina canyon. During a relaxing boat ride, we will savour the diverse scenic beauty of the Cetina canyon sailing upstream from Omiš to a restaurant, where we will enjoy a meal of local specialties. It will also be a great opportunity to take photographs of wildlife. This is however not the only place during the tour where you will be able to enjoy nature and wildlife. We will also have the opportunity to walk through the Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia’s top natural attraction. This glorious expanse of forested hills and 16 crystalline lakes that tumble into each other via a series of waterfalls and cascades is exquisitely scenic, and in 1979 it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will also stay close to the Krka National Park, where you can even take a bath in the lakes beneath the waterfalls. Croatia boasts a total of 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the historic centres of Dubrovnik and Split, the cathedrals in Trogir and Sibenik and the basilica in Poreč, all of which can be visited during the tour.

During our visit we wanted to take the ferry to the Pelješac peninsula, as we have not used this ferry before. Taking this route on the way to Dubrovnik means avoiding the few miles along the coast through Bosnia and Herzegovina and any problems our customers might have with their insurance companies. By stopping on the Pelješac peninsula, we can not only enjoy the stunning views, beaches and wine but can also continue through Croatia to Dubrovnik.
The topic of the ferry is also a key question for many customers who have already booked this tour, as several are thinking of returning home at the end of the tour via Italy and taking a ferry from either Dubrovnik to Bari or from Split or Zadar to Ancona and enabling them to visit historic cities like Naples or Rome or visit the beautiful countryside in Tuscany.

On our „Captivating Croatia“ tour, the combination of timeless unspoilt nature coupled with beautifully preserved centuries-old architecture and a lively contemporary cultural scene promises rewarding memories for anyone who decides to join us. We still have a few places available, so if you are interested in booking this, or on any other tour, the earlybird discount is only available until the end of the year!
